RATIONALE: On June 30, 2004, Congress passed Section 204 of Public Law 108-265, of the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004. This law requires each local education agency participating in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs to establish a local school wellness policy no later than the first day of school after June 30, 2006.

RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of the Interim Superintendent and Director of Finance that the Board approve policy number 5465; the Local Wellness policy for Lakewood Public Schools as presented.

RESOLUTION: Motion by Mr. Gibbs second by Mr. Kettel to implement the Local Wellness policy for Lakewood Public Schools as presented.
