Welcome! My name is Kate Barbour, and I teach 7th grade Literature. This is my sixth year at Lakewood and my 12th year of teaching, overall. I graduated from Hope College with a degree in K-12 Physical Education and 6-12 Secondary English and later earned my Master's in TESOL, with an ESL endorcement, from Grand Valley State University. After graduating from Hope, I taught in Taichung, Taiwan for three years at a boarding school and at Wavecrest Career Academy in Holland, Michigan, before being hired into the Lakewood family. I have been apart of the girl's Varsity Soccer program for the past five years, as well. When I'm not at school or coaching, I can be found with my husband, Jermey, and my daughter, Maya.

Degrees and Certifications:
Distance Learning begins April 20, 2020.
I have utilized Google Classroom throughout the school year; therefore, students should be familar with how to log in and access assignments and resources. I believe this is the best place to post my packet and resources, as well as communicate with your student and provide him/her with feedback on his/her assignments.
Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns. Stay healthy, safe, and most importantly, sane!
