SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

Dear Lakewood Families,

Happy New Year! My name is Jodi Duits and I am excited to serve as the Superintendent of Lakewood Public Schools. As we enter the new year, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, talk about our Strategic Plan, and welcome our staff and students back to school.

I was hired in 2001 to teach third grade at West Elementary School in Room 104. After teaching for 16 years in the classroom, I had the pleasure of serving as the Principal of Lakewood Early Childhood Center. My most recent role was the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and School Improvement, along with overseeing Special Education. My commitment has always been, and will always be, with Lakewood. The Lakewood community is my forever home, where my husband Chris and I have a daughter in 7th grade and a son in 5th grade at Lakewood Middle School.

With our Strategic Plan in mind, the three big areas we will focus on moving forward in 2023 are:

1. Staff and Student Safety
2. Teaching and Learning and
3. Facilities (Bond).

We have a fantastic team here in Lakewood! Our staff is dedicated to preparing our students for success. We appreciate our caring community and thank you for your partnership!
