The motto of the Circle of Excellence, “Primus inter pares,” means “First among equals.” By their attitude and their achievement, members of the Circle reach that pinnacle.
THE LAKEWOOD CIRCLE OF EXCELLENCE is an honorary which recognizes students who demonstrate a positive attitude toward learning and a willingness to work hard to achieve excellence. The honorary is called the Circle of Excellence for two reasons. First, the word “Circle” signifies that members are bound together by a common tie—that of excellence. “Circle” also suggests equality among the members. All are chosen because of their positive attitude and their outstanding achievement in a particular discipline. Each earns honor.
