Lakewood Public Schools 2022 Hall of Fame
A Meaningful Hall of Fame Tribute
FOUR LOCAL INDUCTEES ENTER LAKEWOOD HALL OF FAME WITH LAUGHTER, TEARS, AND HUMBLE APPRECIATION
The Lakewood Hall of Fame Annual Induction ceremony is a great celebration to honor the newest inductees. The Hall of Fame recognizes former graduates and staff members who have made an exceptional contribution to society, achieved exceptional success, brought honor and prestige to Lakewood Public Schools, and have exhibited such qualities of character and action as to be outstanding role models for our students. The evening begins with a reception designed for tight-knit community to visit with old friends, and make some new ones. The school community celebrated the distinguished careers and contributions of the 2022 Lakewood Hall of Fame inductees: Mr. Mark Farrell, Mrs. Elizabeth “Libby” Kinsey, Mr. Doug Schmuck, and Mrs. Sheila Veitch. The group was selected in 2020, but the induction ceremony was postponed due to the pandemic. Each inductee has lived above and beyond the ordinary, and has made a meaningful mark in the lives of students, and their important work will forever be woven into the fabric of Lakewood Public Schools. “Their service to our schools and community has enriched our past, present, and future” stated Dr. Steven Skalka, Superintendent. “We were privileged to host a full house of guests, friends, and family.” Superintendent Skalka honored each inductee, presenting them with a proclamation describing their lifetime accomplishments, integrity, community outreach, and the indelible positive impact they made for generations of Lakewood students. Laughter, tears, memories, and appreciation filled the atrium at the high school as each inductee shared personal remarks. Mr. Farrell, Mrs. Kinsey, Mr. Schmuck, and Mrs. Veitch joined the distinguished ranks of inductees which include 2017 inductees: Mr. Bill Eckstrom, Mr. Mike Winkler, Mr. Ron Martin; 2018 inductees: Mr. Roger Buxton, Mr. Phil Reed, Mr. Ron Coppess; 2019 inductees: Mrs. Jill Van Zyl, Mrs. Lois Frantz, Mrs. Mary Roessler, and Mr. Mike OMara.
A special thank you to the Lakewood Hall of Fame Committee, the Board of Education, our amazing maintenance team, and our talented food service team for providing the spread. We appreciate those who nominated these fine men and women. We are grateful to all who make the Hall of Fame possible. THIS IS LAKEWOOD.
