MR. JERRY SCHRAY
Mr. Schray began serving in the U.S. Army in 1977 with 12 weeks of basic training at Fort Dix in New Jersey. After graduating from basic training, Mr. Schray was transferred to Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. At Aberdeen Mr. Schray received specialized training as a Recovery Specialist. After 6 months of training, he was transferred to the 3rd /35 th Armor Division in Bamberg Germany where he was promoted to the rank of Specialist 4th Class as an M88A1 Recovery Specialist and the tank commander. Recovery Specialists retrieve disabled vehicles and repair them to be put back into service. Mr. Schray remained in Germany for 2 years receiving an honorable discharge in 1980 with the rank of Specialist 4th Class.
Upon leaving the Army, Mr. Schray met his wife Kelly. They have a daughter Jacqie Collins who is a 2007 graduate of Lakewood High School. Mr. Schray and his wife now have three grandchildren, Sam, Jayne and Alex.
Mr. Schray, please accept deep appreciation from those you have helped to defend. We stand united with you. We honor your commitment and the sacrifices of all veterans, their families, and loved ones. Lakewood Public Schools will forever be grateful to Mr. Jerry Schray.
